In general, Spain is full of spots where you can spend an enjoyable and beautiful Holy Week and the city of Madrid is one of those destinations. If you plan to spend the holidays between April 13th and 17th in Madrid, these are some of the best plans for things to do.

The Holy Week floats. Our city also has processions which will stir even the hardest of hearts. Among them, the most famous is the Christ of Medinaceli which occurs on Good Friday and passes through the streets of the capital.

Madrid-style French toast. A typical Madrid delicacy during Holy Week is the sweet and flavorful Madrid-style French toast. You will find all types in bars and restaurants throughout the city, although we recommend you conduct your search on foot to drop the pounds they may make you gain!

A stroll through Quinta de los Molinos Park. The Canillejas neighborhood has one of the most beautiful parks in the spring. Why? You can walk through hundreds of almond trees arranged in rows which give the Madrid landscape a white and pink hue.

Themed tour. One of the best plans for Holy Week is to visit Madrid’s most important churches, cathedrals and basilicas. On your map you should mark La Almudena, the Basilica of San Francisco El Grande, San Jerónimo El Real and the church of San Antonio de los Alemanes as interesting sites to visit.

Traditional drum festival. Hundreds of religious fraternities gather on Easter Sunday in the Plaza Mayor to officially bid farewell to Holy Week. How? Through a traditional drum festival which silences the noise of Madrid with the thunderous sound of drums and horns.
