There are many reasons that will make you fall passionately in love with the Spanish capital. In this week’s post we are completing our list of the ten touristic sites that you must visit while in Madrid.

6) Madrid’s own avenue of the arts: The Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofía Museums

Museo del Prado

Three of the most important museums in the art world are located in a span of less than one mile.

  •     Museo del Prado. For almost two centuries, one of the best museums in the world has been housed in a magnificent neoclassical building in Madrid. Some of the masterpieces you will find include works by Goya, such as the black paintings, works by Velázquez like Las Meninas and The Garden of Earthly Delights by El Bosco.
  •     Museo Thyssen. This museum has a large selection of the best impressionist paintings and artwork ranging from the Middle Ages to the end of the 20th century including work by Gauguin and Kandinsky, among others.
  •     Museo Reina Sofía. Picasso’s famous painting Guernica is on display at this museum, in addition to some of the best works by Miró, Dalí and Juan Gris, who, as coincidence would have it, was born in the building where our hotel is now located.
