Madrid Puente de Octubre

Madrid offers touristic and cultural attractions for the family all year round, that said the long weekends sprinkled throughout the year are probably one of the best opportunities to enjoy the city with children. In this post, we’ll explain the main reasons why the October Long Weekend is so attractive.

The October Long Weekend in Madrid

The city has many playgrounds where kids can play and have fun. In addition, there is a specific cultural agenda for children, so you can plan out what events you’d like to attend. The following are just a few possibilities.

Baby Rock

Baby Rock is being held on October 13th and 14th. This show, which combines music and color, is designed for children ages 6 and under. Tickets to the 40-minute show being held at Calle Ercilla 29, near Madrid Rio, cost €8.

The Strawberry Train

The first stretch of railway in Madrid ran between Spain’s capital city and Aranjuez, also known as the Strawberry Train. The Chiquitren option includes the train ride, a tour of Aranjuez and a visit to the Jardín del Parterre. The price is €17 for children under 4’ 6” and €26 for adults and there are rides on October 13th and 14th.

Jack and the Beanstalk

If your children like the theater, this is a great option for kids between the ages of 4 and 12. Jack and the Beanstalk is a 55-minute play and has wonderfully decorated sets and colorful costumes that will capture your children’s imaginations. There are performances at the Teatro Luchana in Madrid on October 13th and 14th at 4:30 PM. Ticket prices range from €7 to €10.
