Artes plásticas

The Sala de Arte Joven of the Autonomous Community of Madrid on Avenida de América is presenting the last exhibition of this edition of the Circuitos de Artes Plásticas [Visual Arts Circuits], a collection displaying the work of the 10 artists selected at the 27th edition of this competition through which the regional government supports emerging art and helps young artists gain entrance to the professional world.

Contemporary art deserves more of our attention. We go to the movies, the theater, concerts and musicals but what about art? Is it a leisure activity directed at a very select group? Perhaps the problem is the stereotypes surrounding the art world and collectors. However, as “ambassadors” of Madrid we urge you to give the work of Ana Esteve Reig, Alejandro S. Garrido, Julia Llerena, Cristina Mejías, Federico Miró, Sofía Montenegro, Andrés Pachón, Javier Rodríguez Lozano, Françoise Vanneraud and Denica Veselinova an opportunity. They are the protagonists of the last exhibition of the Circuitos de Artes Plásticas and have been selected by a prestigious jury specializing in various sectors of the visual arts.

The collection offers a complete range of current artistic practices which includes photography, painting, sculptures and engravings, even site-specific installations and video art. Parallel to the exhibition, there is also a program of activities which includes guided tours of the collection and a series of activities designed and implemented by the artist themselves at institutions and prominent art spaces in the Autonomous Community of Madrid.

The 27th edition of the Circuitos de Artes Plásticas will be open to the public (admission is free) until March 19, 2017. Opening hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. (with a midday break from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.) and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
