Federico Fellini. Sueño y diseño

Madrid has given Fellini a seat on the couch to analyze his dreams. The filmmaker’s dream-like spirit is dissected by the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Federico Fellini. Sueño y diseño [Federico Fellini: Dream and Design]. This exposition will be open until 21 January 2018 and highlights another one of his obsessions, drawing. In fact, the director himself referred to his need to put everything he thought about on paper, as an obsession.

Fellini’s last projects, in Madrid.

This documentary-style exhibition with tinges of eroticism and references to psychoanalysis offers previously unseen material and stills from film shoots. It delves into what defined the genius and complexity of one of the most powerful stars of the celluloid, a distinguished practitioner of the seventh art who changed the rules of storytelling.

This unique tour shows us his last work, three short films he filmed for a Banca di Roma commercial. The short films starred Fernando Rey, Paolo Villaggio and Anna Falchi, and focused on Freudianism, the main concept of this exhibit. These pieces took shape just a few months before his death in 1993.

His illustrated diary

This exhibition in the Círculo de Bellas Artes on the author of La Dolce Vita concludes with this diary, the Book of Dreams in which the director drew everything he experienced when he closed his eyes. In addition, visitors can watch “8 1/2” a film included in Los lunes al Círculo [Mondays at the Círculo] series and related to this exhibit.

The exposition, which explains the importance of the role the unconscious played for the director, includes conferences which are being given as part of this parallel programing. Miguel Marías and Paulino Viota are two of the guests invited to delve deeper into the psyche of one of the most eminent directors. You can visit this exhibit on Fellini in Madrid (in the Goya room), from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
