Cortylandia 2018

The holidays are just around the corner and, with them, comes magic and fantasy. The little ones are excited about the three kings, the streets and shops already have their Christmas decorations buzzing and the clock of Puerta del Sol is getting ready to welcome the new year.

Madrid will surprise you with its Christmas traditions. One of them is Cortylandia, the animated musical show for children that El Corte Inglés has been offering since 1979. Over the years, the lights and characters of Cortylandia have become a symbol of the beginning of Christmas. In its almost 40 years, the show has been transformed from simple decorations to audiovisual projections and light shows. Each year, Cortylandia follows a different children’s theme with animated elements and a dream world similar to Christmas wonderland.

Whether you want to relive the memories of your childhood, share a magical moment with your little ones or experience Christmas as an authentic Madrid native, Cortylandia is the perfect place to start. However, don’t forget to take your coats and scarves, as this show is outdoors at Calle Preciados, 3. This year, Cortylandia will be entitled “Wow, it’s Christmas already”, starring animated dogs and it promises to be a great show.

Cortylandia will stay until January 5,  has a pre-established schedule from Monday to Friday: Mornings at 12:00, 13:00 and 14:00h; Evenings at 18:00, 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00 h; Saturdays and Sundays at the same times, but with an extra show at 17:00h. Each show lasts about 15 minutes, so it’s great that the Hotel Europa is a short distance away, since we recommend you arrive in advance. You won’t want to miss this charming tradition!
