Vuelve a sentir el primer amor con el musical de Dirty Dancing
Oh spring… that time of year when the sun begins to heat up, the birds begin to sing in the windows again and teenagers (and the not so young) fall in love. Speaking of love, have you seen the musical Dirty Dancing in Madrid?
Until June 4th you can head to the Nuevo Teatro Alcalá in Madrid to see one of the best musicals. After two years of tremendous success in London’s West End, it has arrived on the stages of Madrid to reenact a story many of us still dream about: a girl from a good family spends her vacation in the fantastic Catskill Mountains in New York where she meets Johnny Castle, a dance instructor who works at the hotel, and she falls head over heels for him.
A story which was a hit when it premiered in movie theaters in 1987 and which today continues to triumph wherever it goes. The movie was adapted for the stage by a multinational team comprised of the director Federico Bellone, the playwright Eleanor Bergstein and the choreographer Gillian Bruce. Among the musical’s more than 30 songs, those who enjoyed this love story will recognize some of the most famous from the soundtrack “(I’ve had) The time of my life”, “Hungry eyes” and “Hey, Baby!”. The songs have the ability to immediately transport the audience back to the 1980s. It would be impossible for the audience not to be moved by the combination of live music and passionate dance numbers.
If upon leaving the theater you have an irresistible urge to dance, don’t fret, it’s normal: you’ve succumbed to the power and the magic of musicals.
