Rick Steves en Granada (España)

Rick Steves traveled to Europe for the first time in 1969 when he was only 14 years old. He accompanied his father, a piano importer, on a trip to visit the factories where the instruments were manufactured. When he was 18, he embarked on his first solo trip around Europe which he paid for by giving piano lessons.

Today, Steves is a celebrity in the United States because of his television shows Travels in Europe with Rick Steves (1991-1998) and Rick Steves’ Europe (2000-present), as well as his weekly radio show. He has written 50 travel guides and is recognized in the United States as the leading authority on European travels.

In 1979, he founded the company Rick Steve’s Europe, a project conceived to help Americans take “fun, affordable and culturally enriching” trips to Europe.

It’s not a travel agency. Rick’s team is not in charge of making flight, hotel or car rental reservations. His tours are characterized by their small size, 24-28 people (half the standard size), as well as the personalized assistance provided by his Trip Consultants before and during the trip.

One of the reasons for the success of Rick Steve’s’ project is that he personally spends one third of the year traveling around Europe, constantly researching for his travel guides, tours and television show.

Italy, Portugal, France, Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, Switzerland, Greece and Spain are the countries comprising his itinerary for June-September 2017. When he comes to Madrid, he always stays at the Europa Hotel. Our hotel has been his favorite for years and we have the honor of having been included as a recommended hotel in his “Best of Spain” tours.

So now you know, if one days you come across a gentleman wearing glasses and taking notes in the reception area, introduce yourself and ask. We’re certain he’ll give you good travel tips 😉
