World Football Summit 2017
For a few days, Madrid will become the football, as it is referred to throughout most of the world, or soccer, as we know it, capital of the world. The date is set for October 16th and 17th in the Teatro Goya where the World Football Summit 2017 will be held, an international conference focused on the industry of the king of sports.
Soccer stirs emotions and involves many people around the entire world, both at the amateur and professional level. According to FIFA data, more than two hundred fifty million people play soccer around the globe. In Madrid its star status is indisputable: the Bernabéu Stadium tour receives around 1 million visitors each year, making it the third-most visited museum in Madrid, outdone only by the Reina Sofia (2.6 million) and the Museo del Prado (2.5 million).
Sixty high-level speakers are scheduled to participate in the WFS conference. They will address matters of great interest to the industry such as television rights, fan engagement and innovation in soccer. Two days dedicated to the industry which has arisen around this sport which represents a real economic driver, contributing about 1% to GDP.
Another interesting event is the presentation of the WFS Industry Awards, which recognize the work of top, industry professionals, such as agencies, sponsors, associations and NGOs in a ceremony which will take place on October 16th at the Palacio Neptuno. On that night, all of the eyes of professional soccer will be on Madrid, a city where we have always experienced the sport with passion and intensity and whose name is associated with the world’s leading clubs.
