The main theme of ARCOmadrid 2018 will be the future. This is an opportunity to turn this event into a space where visitors can imagine and predict the complexity of the world that awaits us. With this forward-looking perspective, Madrid’s international contemporary art fair will turn 37 this year.

The future will be addressed from different standpoints by artists and galleries over several days. To do so, there will be presentations, conferences and debates informing visitors of the research being conducted in relation to the art world.

ARCOmadrid 2018 will showcase 211 galleries from 29 countries in pavilions 7 and 9 of Madrid’s Expo Center. Of these, 160 can be found in the general program, together with the three curated sections. The first of these sections uses a Borges quote related to the fair’s central theme as its title: “The future isn’t what is going to happen, rather it is what we are going to do“: and will consist of 20 galleries, including the most prestigious from New York and Paris.

Another is the “Dialogs” section that will contain 14 galleries. Its goal is to create new content and show the depth of the work of certain of the artists selected. Lastly, the “Opening” program will display the work of an additional 19 galleries that have been operating for less than seven years.

Expert Forum and Much More

The fair will have many more interesting spaces and activities, however we would like to highlight the 15th Expert Forum which will hold a debate on creativity today and the art market. As you are aware, without collectors who make purchases none of this would be possible; so, if you find yourself motivated to make a purchase, the fair offers buyers advisory services.

ARCO is always a great opportunity to enjoy Madrid and in 2018, from February 21st to 25th it promises to be an edition “full of the future” as the poet would say.
