If you are in Madrid and you like soccer, tonight you have the chance to watch one of the round of 16 games of Champions League, the premier European club competition. Real Madrid and PSG will face-off in two games to determine who will move on to the quarterfinals.

Champions League in Madrid

Champions League takes a two and a half month break coinciding with the harshest winter months. Some countries use this break to give players a rest (Germany), to play cup games (Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom) or simply to continue with national league play.

Real Madrid advanced past the group stage and its rival is the historic French team PSG. The first game of the round of 16 will be played in Madrid’s stadium, Santiago Bernabúe, today February 14th at 8:45 PM, following the unified schedule imposed by this competition.

If you already have your ticket, here are a few details that will help ensure you enjoy the game trouble-free if you are unfamiliar with the city.

Getting to the stadium via public transportation is relatively easy because the metro’s line 10 has a stop on Paseo de la Castellana, right in front of the main entrance. With regard to urban buses, lines 14, 27, 40, 43, 120, 126, 147 and 150 also have stops nearby.

It is very important that you keep in mind that the stadium is expected to be full and, therefore, it will likely be difficult to find the ticket. Talk to our reception staff, we would be delighted to help you, and if no tickets can be found, you can always enjoy the game-time cheer at our Cafetería Europa.

The next time you visit Madrid, we recommend buying your tickets in advance on the Real Madrid’s official website where you can purchase them starting at €75.

Taking in a soccer game while in Madrid is a great plan and Champions League allows you to see the continent’s leadings stars in action in an exciting competition.
