Estampa Contemporary Art Fair 2019

Autumn is not only synonymous with yellow leaves but is the perfect time to attend the contemporary art fair. Estampa, the international contemporary art fair has been held in Madrid for 27 years. It is organized around more than 80 national and international galleries. The main objective of the fair is the creation, promotion and dissemination of the art market in Spain giving priority to collecting and gallerism. The curators present the current affairs of contemporary art and focus on the most experimental aspects.

This new edition will feature five institutional projects, almost a thousand artists, various forums, debates and parallel activities. New sections will be presented, such as La conciencia de las cosas, curated by Ángel Calvo Ulloa (Lalín, Pontevedra, 1984), whose artists present their art from the standpoint pertaining to the profession.

Meridiano Cero, by Bruno Leitao (Lisbon, 1979) will bring together Portuguese galleries to represent new forms of gallerism in Portugal. For lovers of photography, Alicia Ventura (Valencia, 1965) will have a unique section entitled: What about photography?

The DKV Collection acquisition prize, the Community of Madrid/Estampa prize, the Estampa/Casa Velázquez Residence grant, the purchase prizes Navacerrada Collection, Campocerrado Collection, Kells Collection, Jiménez Rivero Collection and the prize for Best ESTAMPA Stand will be awarded. Unlike other editions, this fair will give prominence to these awards to insist on the commitment of public and private collecting. To this end, a special invitation has been extended to private collectors, advisors and heads of collections, institutional directors and market professionals throughout Europe.

The fair will be held at the IFEMA from 17 to 20 October 2019 from 12-21h. The IFEMA is located in the Madrid Fair L8 of the metro.
