If you are a history and ancient object lover, you have until January 12th to enjoy a trip to the Middle East through more than 200 objects from the ancient Assyrian, Babylonian, Phoenician and Persian empires.

The ancient empires had in common that they all wanted to extend their power to unsuspected limits. These empires occupied everything from Spain to India, uniting two continents and forming a passageway between the Mediterranean and Asia.

This pathway between two continents gave rise to an important trade in precious metals, raw materials and different objects. These objects today are proof of the majestic nature of these four empires. From the British Museum, the impressive collection between 900 and 300 B.C. is a small glimpse of the greatness of the time. This exhibition is the first of its kind in the world. We will be able to understand what these cultures were like and how, through the manufacture of objects, these cultures interacted with each other. In the exhibition you can see delicate pieces of ivory, jewellery, ornaments, glass, ceramics and precious metals.

You can also see large Assyrian reliefs that will guide you on a journey through the history of the ancient Middle East.  Not only can you see the artisan value of each piece, but also the political context in which they were created. Alexander the Great played an important role in this era because by acquiring objects like these he hid an important military objective of conquest. Discover how these civilizations were full of dynamism and great prosperity.

Caixa Fórum is accessible from our hotel via the metro L1 to Estación del Arte (old Atocha station) and the ticket price is 5€ from Monday to Sunday from 10-22h.
